Ghosting - two cool

We'll
be creating this fun Halloween card at tomorrow's Wow Techniques Class
using a ghosting technique and the too-cute-to-be-spooky images from the
Halloween Hello stamp set.

Ghosting - bats

This
fun technique was shared in our demo-exclusive Stampin' Success
Magazine.  Although it looks like it's just stamping on Smoky Slate card
stock, it actually began as Whisper White!

3-Step Ghosting Technique

  • Stamp the images with White Craft Ink onto Whisper White card stock.  Allow to dry.
  • Brayer
on your background ink color over the top of the images.  The White
Craft Ink resists the ink enough that you'll still see your images
    showing through.
  • Stamp the images again, this time in
Black StazOn ink, and slightly offset from the previous image creating a
    dropshadow effect.

Ghosting - bats3

Positioning The Bats—It's
helpful to use your Stamp-A-Ma-Jig when you stamp your top black image,
but I am too impatient for that, so I eyeballed mine.  I didn't do too
badly, but I think it would have looked nicer if they weren't offset
quite so much.  You'll do a better job, I'm sure!

Spooky Border—I added some Witches' Brew Washi Tape along the side, then wrapped it with some 3/8" White Taffeta Ribbon.

Ghosting - bats2

Batty Sentiment—I
punched out a layer if Summer Starfruit with the Bracket Label Punch,
then added a sentiment in Pumpkin Pie and bat accent with some
Rhinestone Jewels.

Ghosting - witches

Wacky Witches—The second of my two cool cards features a flock of witches!  I can almost hear them cackling!

Sparkly Spiders—My Tags 4 You sentiment was also punched with the Bracket Label Punch and layered on a Pumpkin Pie punch that was cut in half and re-positioned.  I used the tiny Rhinestones on the spiders—love it!

Bundle It & Save—Don't forget…you can purchase the Tags 4 You stamps and Label Bracket Punch together as a Tags 4 You Bundle (wood) and save 15% off the price of purchasing them separately!

  1. I’ve been following your blog for some time now. Love all the hints and instructions. Awhile back I copied your “Diagonal Plate Card Box How-To’s. Love it, but it’s too big for giving 4 cards and envelopes. I’ve played with the numbers and have come up with two that work, only on one the top is too long to slip under the flower, and the other one, the sides don’t meet. Any suggestions?

  2. Hi Nancy! I really don’t have any suggestions without playing around with it myself. I CASEd the Diagonal Plate Card Box from Jackie Topa…you might ask her if she has any variations for a smaller box.
